Write Out/Daily Create Collaborative Poem

Yesterday’s prompt for the DS106 Daily Create and Write Out poem was an invitation to collaborate on a tree-themed poem. We used Etherpad.

A spark beneath

the brittle soil,

a seed awakes

and stretches out

towards the sun above

Fibers thread their paths 

burrow in soil, joining themselves 

feeding and forming 

Here, the roots begin,

dressed in a coat of

microscopic filament, 

a network emerging

an anchor, grounding

its home

a conduit, conveying

sustenance to the stem

seeking the warmth of the sun

Each independently stretching,

reaching for sun and sky, 

separate in communion, gathered 

together against the wind 

Hear that song: I am the Sun,

the celestial one 

who brings such light to leaves,

and joy to this land of trees
