One of the cool things (I think) about the DS106 Daily Create is that a prompt can often lead you into experimental ideas, if you take the time and find a thread. This morning’s prompt was to explore the new Gif Search Engine at the Internet Archive (a prompt I had submitted), and as I wandered around, I came to look at spinning world globes. I decided to make a gif of a section of the page the globe gifs (and I shared that as my original post on Mastodon). This involves screen recording, then converting the video into a Gif file.
Then, I starting thinking of remix, so I played around for a bit with some different ways to filter the original Gif of the globes spinning (first, I used an online Gif site, and then I went into iMovie and used its effects library and layering tools) and I ended up with the above Gif, which layers in two different versions of the original, both with heavy filtering.
Peace (spin away),
Kevin
