This is the first post on what I hope will be a series of explorations of Indie Web sites collected in the Internet Phone Book. I have highlighted a bunch of sites that I want to check out. I start by dialing the number “15” into the phone pad and end up at Ideapad. This is the blogging home of David Wertheimer, and his blog is billed as “one of the world’s oldest continually publishing blogs.”
I am looking at this last post at the end of December, where he explains his tradition of sharing places he has visited and stayed overnight at. There was an interesting piece there, too, from a few months back about revisiting familiar songs from the past and another about how to grapple (or not) with AI in the world. I like the personable voice of his writing, with David mixing education, work, family and tech-related content. He seems to be posting about once a month or so.
He first starting posting in 1998, the year my eldest son was born. That gives me some perspective on his tenure as a blogger. That’s awesome.
I am going to leave him a comment to let him know I rang him up on the telephone. (oops, no comment feature is turned on, as far as I can tell. I’ll ping him on Mastodon)
Peace (and wandering),
Kevin
