Poem: Wayne Shorter’s Sweet Pea
This short poem comes from the prompt “Sweet Pea” and I thought of jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter’s song.
Wayne Shorter’s jazz
experiments with odd sounds;
music from the ground

Making In The Morning
This is one of my quick haiku poems, written over coffee as I start my day, using a one word prompt. This morning, it was waterfall. Then I made my way to the DS106 Daily Create, where an old prompt of mine from 2017 popped back into the mix, about the Laws of Robots by Asimov.
Peace (at sunrise),

Jake Manzi: It’s Northampton
Jake Manzi, who used to live in my small city in Western Massachusetts, wrote a song about this place and came home to shoot some film. He’s playing this week in a club to celebrate the release of his new album, which has this song on it.
Peace (in ‘Hamp),
Kevin
Quidditch In Its 25th Season
We play Quidditch at our school, going on for 25 seasons (add another two years when we didn’t play due to Covid). This may be the last year, as a wave of us are retiring, including the Physical Education teacher. Sixth graders play each other during the day (this Wednesday) as the whole school comes to watch, and then at night, the students play us teachers (our team name is Pink Fury). I made some art because I am introducing my students to Canva today and I want them to play around.
I am the self-proclaimed Quaffle King. I don’t often live up to my name.
Peace (and magic),

So Long, Sonny Rollins
We lost Sonny Rollins this past week. I saw him in concert years ago and he was fabulous and expressive, and so inventive.

More Duke Rushmore

I was trying to have some fun with some band promos for Duke Rushmore, and thought of the idea of our heads as musical notes on transcription paper.
Peace (sounds good),
Kevin
Music: Wander With Grace
The other week, I put out an album of original music, so I figure I will slowly share the individual songs here, too. The first song is called Wander With Grace. It’s on Bandcamp, which means you are welcome to listen for free.
Peace (and song and stories),
Kevin
Duke Rushmore Band Pics
We had to take a band picture for a flier for an upcoming gig. This is Duke Rushmore in 2026. I am holding my saxophone.
And then, just for fun:
Peace (in the pocket),
Kevin
