One of the columnists at The Boston Globe — Barbara Wallraff — writes a regular column (May I Have A Word?) about words and word-play, and she recently asked readers to invent new words and send them in. After reading her invitation, I thought: my sixth grade classroom Crazy Collaborative Dictionary Project — now more than 20 years in the making — where students invent and submit invented words (as part of our Word Origins inquiry), might be of some interest to her. There are nearly 1300 invented words from across the years in our dictionary.
Sure enough, she not only perused the dictionary; she featured it at the top of her column!
Peace (and words),
Kevin

What an amazing project – and I bet the kids were pleased to see it getting recognition!
Yeah, they were pretty jazzed about it!
